I put my heart and soul into being the best Realtor I can be. What I don't do is spend much time promoting myself! At the suggestion of my clients I'm going to change that. Earlier this year we started looking at real estate websites to select a Realtor and search through homes for sale in the Raleigh NC area. It was interesting to see how many times we had to register just to look at properties. On one occasion we ended up registering, and asked the Realtor a few questions. A different person called us back, and still another person started sending us countless emails. Very annoying. We stumbled upon Marc Van Doren's website and found that we could come and go as we pleased. We actually used it for a month or so before reaching out to him, and were amazed that he was the one that contacted us! That was just the beginning of a wonderful experience. We've bought and sold a number of homes over the years but never met anyone as knowledgeable, or who knew so much about so many things! Not only is he the best Realtor we've ever worked with, he's also a highly motivated and wonderful person. He was able to negotiate things into the deal that we had never thought of, and in the end saved us a lot of money. New carpet, new appliances, and a very good price. The best part was we never felt pressured. He was by our side the whole time. My family relocated from Vermont to Raleigh in 2011. It was our first relocation in 11 years and we knew nothing of the greater Raleigh area. I found Marc on-line and after we swapped a few emails on what's important to my family and what we're looking for we booked a survey trip to visit some neighborhoods with Marc. The evening we arrived Marc took us straight out "area shopping" before it got dark. Marc started by taking us to an area that had not even been one of the ones I researched. Marc stated that over the last couple years many families he's relocated have chosen a home in this area. My wife and I were very taken by the neighborhoods there. We spent the next two days of the visit looking at the areas I'd researched and my wife and I kept comparing them to the first one that Marc had shown us on the first evening.

Four weeks later we had a contract on our VT house and it was time to find one in the greater Raleigh area so we hastily put together another trip down to see Marc and look at some actual houses this time. After looking all over, we actually chose a home not a half mile from the exact spot where Marc said he envisioned us being happy based on what we'd told him was important to us. Turns out we didn't need to know the area at all because Marc knew it all so well.
We bought a house that was new and was about 75% complete. About a month later, just two weeks before closing/moving, an issue came up. It was a discrepancy between the house and the spec we'd approved. The spec contained a laundry room sink and folding counter but there was none (and no room) in the laundry room . It was an error on the builder's part that he had it in the spec although the laundry room was not really big enough for the sink. Marc chimed in and suggested the builder still provide the sink, but put it in the garage where perhaps it would be more useful anyway. This was perfect! Better in fact than the original plan of having the sink in the laundry room.
Marc provided HUGE value in our relocation. We love our home and neighborhood and I shudder to think of where I may have ended up if left to my own devices or with another realtor. I hope it's a LONG time before I need the services of another realtor, but when I do I know I'll start by calling Marc.

I used Marc Van Doren as my realtor when I first relocated to Raleigh, NC two years ago in May. At the time, I was living in Greenville, NC and was about to graduate from college. I was under a time crunch to find a place to live in Raleigh. At the time I was renting an apartment in Greenville and definitely had decided that I didn’t want to rent anymore.
I had landed a job in Raleigh with a start date in July. I also had 4 (rescued) dogs that I had to find a place where they could stay as well. I contacted several realtors but was very frustrated with their attitudes. Most of them said that I had to be at their office at a specific time and if I was late they would leave me and I would lose my appointment. This was very frustrating as I was unfamiliar with the Raleigh area and was concerned that I may get stuck in traffic and be a few minutes late to an appointment due to uncontrollable circumstances.
I found Marc Van Doren while attempting to find more realtors. I met with Marc several times and he was extremely helpful during the entire buying process. As a first time homebuyer and also being fresh out of college, Marc was wonderful at explaining and guiding me through the buying process. I told him what specifics I was looking for and he came up with several options for me to choose from, all within my price range. Marc even helped finagle a deal with the seller of my house in which I rented the house a couple months prior to my purchase since my job didn’t start until July.
I still keep in touch with Marc and I will definitely use him as my Realtor when I decide to sell my house and buy another one. I definitely would recommend Marc Van Doren for several reasons. Marc goes above and beyond to help his clients buy or sell their house. He is very outgoing and easy to talk to, and cares about his clients. He will help you in any way he can. My wife and I moved to the triangle in June of 2006 and started the search process for our first home in August of that same year. At that point we, like everyone else in the US, were oblivious to the fact that this was the absolute worst time to buy a home. We were referred to Marc Van Doren by a colleague of my father, and a friendship was instantly developed from the first time we met with him.
